What makes the Real Easter Egg ethical?

When I came up with the Real Easter Egg there were three things that made it 'Real':  it had to share the Easter story, be made from Fairtrade chocolate and make real the Easter themes of hope and new life by supporting charitable projects. 

That is why this year we have a newly illustrated story, we are Fairtrade and we give a cash bonus to our growers through the Fairtrade Premium. This additional sum of money paid on top of the price that farmers and workers receive for their produce and can be used to invest in developmental projects to improve their businesses and their communities.  

If you buy directly from the Meaningful Chocolate Company then we are able to pay more to the Fairtrade Foundation to help with their work in the UK.
