Bishop of Manchester visits Ancoats

The Meaningful Chocolate Company was delighted to welcome the Rt Rev’d Nigel McCulloch, Bishop of Manchester to its offices recently.

By sheer coincidence, despite having previously never stepped foot in Ancoats, Bishop Nigel told us that his grandfather was actually born on Bengal Street… the very street our office is on.

So, we couldn’t resist arranging a guided tour of the area for him; lead by our good friend, the multi-talented writer, broadcaster and guide Jonathan Schofield (www.jonathanschofieldtours.com)

Jonathan gave us a fascinating insight into Ancoats’ rich and colourful history, unveiling hidden gems and almost forgotten secrets at the turn of every corner.

This place has such a rich seam of history running through it, if you ever get the chance to visit (probably best accompanied by Jonathan) we’d highly recommend it.
